AMS FRESHMEN UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS- The American Meteorological Society is pleased to announce to AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship program, open to all high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Application must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status. Applicants must be entering their freshman year of college in the fall of 2008 as a full-time students and plan to pursue a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. ARIZONA MILK PRODUCERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Candidate must be an Arizona resident. Candidate must be a full-time college (12 credits or more) or a high school senior eligible for the 2009 fall term. Candidate must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an Arizona university as a full time student (12 credits or more) for the 2009 fall term. Our program coincides with the football season at Arizona’s three universities. Three finalists will be drawn each week, one from each post office box. Each entry must include your name, address and phone number and nutrition information panel from any size carton of milk (copies accepted) along with a paragraph (not to exceed 150 words) stating why you need milk, along with a milk mustache picture of yourself (copies not accepted) be creative! One entry per envelope (please include return address on envelope).Enter as often as you wish (no purchase necessary). Applications must be turned in to your counseling office deadline August 24 th through October 26 th 2008.

ARIZONA SCHOOL COUNSELORS ASSOCIATION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP: Must be a high school senior attending a public or private secondary in the state of Arizona. Must be permanent resident of the state of Arizona and must plan to attend a post-secondary institution during 2009-2010 school year. ASU-LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP- Any senior who has applied and been accepted by ASU is eligible. One senior from each high school who has demonstrated leadership and will make a significant contribution to the collegiate environment is invited to apply. The scholarship is approximately $32,000 over four years of study. See Mrs. Sorden for school application if interested.

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP ( U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT)-

Applicants must be legal residents, currently high school seniors who plan to enroll in a 2yr or 4yr college or university in 2008. Eligible seniors must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in activity in school, community and workplace. An unrelated adult must make a recommendation. Awards range from:$10,000 to $25,000. Application is in the counseling office.

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA EAGLE SCOUT ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS: Be an Eagle Scout and received credentials from the national office. Be a graduating high school senior. Provide official high school transcript. Have an SAT score of at least 1090 and/pr ACT score of 26. Demonstrate leadership ability in scouting and a strong record of participation in activities outside of scouting. COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP- Applicants must be high school seniors, U. S. citizens planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post secondary institution with a GPA of 3.0. (Applicants may not be children or grandchildren of employees or Coca-cola or their divisions or subsidiaries.) ELKS LEGACY AWARD SCHOLARSHIP- Any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2004, or a or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2004, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2007. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. The applicant must be a high school senior. ELK MOST VAULABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP- Applicants will be judged on financial need, leadership, and scholarship. Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks. Applicants much be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; resident alien status does not qualify. FIRST STATE BANK SCHOLARSHIP-Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, involvement in at least one extracurricular activity and plan on attending an Arizona community college, technical, vocational school or university. FLINN SCHOLARSHIP- Students who graduate from an accredited high school before July 2006, hold U.S. citizenship and have been an Arizona resident since August 2004, earn a 1280 cumulative score on the verbal and math sections only of the SAT l or a 29 cumulative score on the ACT, earn 3.5 or higher GPA, rank in the top 5% of the senior class and exhibit extracurricular involvement and demonstrated leadership. FUTURE FARMER’S OF AMERICA- Current FFA member, unless otherwise stated, high school senior or currently enrolled in college. Scholarships are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. Different awards may be used at colleges, universities and post secondary agricultural programs. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS- Students must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American. Are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States. Have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (un-weighted) at the time of nomination. Will be entering a U.S. accredited college or university as full-time, degree seeking freshmen in the Fall of 2006. Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities, and Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Have all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) completed and submitted by the deadline. This scholarship pays full college cost of attendance. GIRLS GOING PLACES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD PROGRAM-Nominee must be female between the ages of 12 and 18 as of 12/31/07 and a legal resident of the United States. An adult nominator must write a letter of recommendation and student nominee must complete a personal statement. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000.

GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship program is for young women who have achieved the highest ranking in Girl Scouting- the Gold award. Gold award scholarships are based on academics, activities, community involvement, leadership, and pursuit of individual interests. Applicants must be Gold Award winners and graduating high school seniors. This scholarship offers $6,000. HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP- full time high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring of 2009, with plans to enter college no later than the fall fallowing graduation; a strong commitment to pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution (students may start their studies at a two year institution and then transfer to a four year institution. ( Louisiana, Iowa and Montana state scholarship recipients must pursue a degree at specific colleges and universities. Please see the individual program description for those requirements); critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred, if higher explanation must be provided); involvement in co-curricular and community activities; demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity; a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and united states citizenship or permanent resident. JACK PETERSON SCHOLARSHIP- Seniors graduating form an Arizona High School. Student must enroll in an accredited Arizona college or university and major in education. Student shall have maintained a high school record that reflects high academic achievement and regular attendance, sustained participation in school/community service and respectable leadership and citizenship among peers. JOE FOSS INSTITUTE Four annual scholarships for any middle or high school student. The prize is $5,000 in scholarship money. The competition is held four times yearly around major patriotic themes. The award goes to the student who submits the best essay on the designated patriotic theme. The current competition essay is to be written about: “ America Founded for Freedom”. M&I BANK STUDENT ATHLETE SCHOLAR AWARD CONTEST- Must be an Arizona high school senior with 3.25 GPA or better and have participated in at least one full season of a team or individual sport and intend to receive further education past high school. SIEMENS COMPETITION IN MATH, SCIENCE, & TECHNOLOGY- The Siemens Competition in Math, Science, & Technology recognizes remarkable talent early on, fostering individual growth for high school students who are willing to challenge themselves through science research. Students may enter as individuals or as part of a team. Entries are “blind read” by a panel of judges assembled by The College Board and its partner Educational Testing Service. The judges have related expertise to the project being reviewed. They don not know anything about the student; papers are judged solely on the merits of the abstract and supporting documentation.
