DeMiguel School Discipline Policy & Zero Tolerance
The DeMiguel faculty and staff would like to remind you to review our school discipline plan with your child(ren). This can be found in the school handbook sent home the first week of school. In addition to those expectations, you will find that the Flagstaff School District has a "Zero Tolerance" policy regarding the following:
- Abuse of Staff, harassment
- Bus misconduct
- Fighting, Assault, Intimidation
- Trespassing, Theft, Vandalism
- Profane or obscene language or gestures
- Truancy
- Gang activity
- Academic dishonesty
- Disruptive or disrespectful behavior
- Failure to comply with repeated direction
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Sexual harassment
- Weapons
Consequences for "Zero Tolerance" offenses include, but are not limited to:
- Student will be referred to the principal's office.
- Student's parents will be contacted by phone or in written form.
- Documentation of the offense and any administrative action will be kept in the school disciplinary files.
It is our wish that parental collaboration, cooperation, and communication with us will help ensure that our school will remain a safe and secure environment where students resolve conflicts and unacceptable behavior peacefully. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. We are hopeful that your continued support will assure that DeMiguel continues to be the very finest. Parent volunteers are always welcome, and we hope that you consider this option of support.
