PE1140 - Personal Fitness (9)

Graduation Requirements: Required for Freshmen

Length of Course: 1 Semester

Description: The class will help students establish a personal fitness program that they will follow throughout the class and
their lives. Using fitness measurements such as heart rate monitors, pedometers and following the FitnessGram model, students will improve their flexibility, cardiovascular fitness and their muscular strength and endurance. They also will play a variety of activities that improve their skill-related fitness.

PE1200 - Sports and Recreation (10 - 12)

Description: Students will experience a wide variety of team and individual sports and lifetime activities including tennis, flag football, soccer, volleyball, archery, badminton, basketball and various other lifetime sports. Also included in this class will be mountain biking, bouldering, and snowshoe activities.

PE1210 - Outdoor Adventure (10 - 12)

Description: This course focuses on the outdoors. Activities such as hiking, backpacking, cross country and downhill skiing, snowboarding, wildlife watching and orienteering will be included. Students will also experience individual sports such as archery, ice-skating, bowling and rock climbing. Students are expected to be in good physical condition. Most field trips will be scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays. Also included in this class will be biking, bouldering, and snowshoe activities

PE1230 - Yoga (10 - 12)

Description: This course will practice physical postures for the develpment of strength, flexibility, and stamina.

PE1315 - Weight Training and Conditioning (10 - 12)

Length of Course: 1 Semester

Description: Course is designed for students wanting to place emphasis on physical fitness and conditioning. The primary emphasis is on weight training and conditioning which includes but not limited to weight training, running, swimming, biking, plyometrics, use of fitness center, and other activities. Workouts are individuallized according to students needs. Programs will be designed to maximize the use of the time available in the weight room.
