Welcome to Killip Elementary School. We are a Preschool to 5th grade school in the heart of Sunnyside. Killip Elementary is a Community school with Adult Education classes, Preschool, and Parent Center that is open to the community.

Killip awarded Helios STEM Grant

In the 2013 - 2014 school year Killip will increase its Science Technology Engineering and Math integration in the curriculum. As Killip begins to integrate the Helios Foundation and Science Foundation Arizona partnerships into the Killip community look forward to many new adventures in the months to come. Killip has been creating many new Community partnerships with local companies and agencies as the Killip Community evolves into a college and career ready environment for all learners. Rachel's Challenge comes to Killip

 Kindness and spreading acts of kindness was the message from the Rachel's Challenge Assembly.
 Students heard a message about kindness and good character.
The students have been challenged to pass on acts of kindness and look for kindness around them.
 Afterwards the classes Did their University Chants as a No Excuses!® School.

  • Killip Students in 2nd - 5th grades are participating

    in Science Camp from June 2 - to June 20, 2014.

    Camp Runs from 8:30 - 1:30 Monday - Thursday with Field Trips on Fridays.  

    The Camp has 3 learning tracts that they students go through every day.

    Guest Presenters and Community Partners also present every day.

    The 3 Tracts covered each  day are:

    Sustainability-Historical sustainability, renewable energy, & Water

    The Science of Baseball and

    Community Gardening in the Killip Community Garden

    The students also participate in structured physical activity every day.

    The Cafeteria opens at 8:00 every morning for Breakfast, and lunch is served between 12:05 - 12:30.

    Parent Events are held each week to keep parents engaged in their child's learning.

     STEM Camp WEEK 1:

    The first Parent Event is WEDNESDAY, June 4, 2014 from 5:30 - 7:00

    The Focus is heath and Fitness - healthy snacks will be provided

    Friday's Field trip is from 8:30 - 3:30 - to Wupatki

    STEM Camp WEEK 2:

    The Parent Event is the Diamondbacks Baseball Family Night, WEDNESDAY, June 11, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00

    Students will also be showing their work from the body systems and garden.

    Friday's Field trip is to the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix - Loading of busses is at 6:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. return to Flagstaff.

    STEM Camp WEEK 3:

    The Parent Event is a Parent Luncheon from 12:30 - 1:30 on Thursday, June 19, 2014. 

    The Final Friday Field trip is to a Diamondbacks' Baseball game. It is an evening game. Busses will load at 1:30 p.m. - and return to Flagstaff at 1:00 a.m. Each child must bring an adult chaperone.

  • The Hermosa Vida Market will:

    • Provide Killip Families with organically grown fruits and vegetables on Fridays at NO Cost to Killip Families.

      • **Hermosa Vida is only able to provide shares to 25 families each week.**

    WHEN: Every Friday

    WHERE: Killip Front Hallway

    TIme: 12:30 p.m.

    • Provide participants who sign up a share of seasonally available vegetables harvested from local farms

    • Include information with the shares which may include recipes, storage tips, and farm news

    • Ofrecera frutas y verduras organicas, cada viernes sin costo alguno a las familias de Killip

      • **Hermosa Vida solo puede ofrecer frutas y verudras a 25 familias cada semana **

    Horario: 12:30 p.m.

    • Ofrecera a los participantes que se inscrban una cantidad de verduras disponible segan la temporada y cosechadas de granjas locales
