Dear MEMS Thunderbirds,

I am excited about the 2013-2014 school year. Mount Elden Middle has a dedicated and passionate faculty, supportive parents, and creative, energetic students.  We are going to do great things together!
Although I hope you have had a fantastic summer and are enjoying the last few days, I trust that you also are getting excited about the school year.  Here is a list of some important information for the start of the year:
• The first day of school is Monday, August 12th. Our school hours are from 7:40 a.m. to 2:20 p.m., and the building opens for students at 7:00 a.m.  Students should not arrive before this time, unless they have special permission from a staff member or are attending a morning club/activity.
• All students will receive a school agenda on the first day of school.  It contains lots of useful information.  Please take some time to read through the front section with your child.  All of the information is important, but please make an effort to review and discuss with your child: the section on the Elect to Learn (page 5) and the sections on the MEMS discipline plan and the dress code (pages 6-7).
• I am excited by the changes that I see in our program.  The staff at MEMS believes that a commitment to high quality, challenging education is important for ALL of our students.
With your support, we will continue to develop the very real gifts and talents of all of the students at Mount Elden Middle School. On behalf of the staff, we are energized and excited about the upcoming year and we look forward to working with your children! Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me or any of the MEMS staff if you have additional questions.
     I'm excited about the year!
