The Mission of the Flagstaff Unified School District Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive guidance program (K-12) through which we address the personal/social, career, and academic needs of all students. We recognize each student's potential for growth within the context of his or her individual, family, multicultural, and human perspective; as we prepare students to contribute in an ever changing world.

Here at DeMiguel, it is my responsibility to meet the needs of all students!  As a school we celebrate and reward students who demonstrate LOBO "PRIDE"  everyday.  PRIDE stands for Personal responsibility, Respect, and Integrity at DeMiguel Everyday!  I personally encourage students to "fill each other's buckets" everyday as well.  This concept is based on the story "Have You Filled A Bucket Today" by Carol McCloud which explains that everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds their feelings about themselves. People with full buckets feel happy and loved.  People with empty buckets feel sad and lonely.  Students can fill buckets by doing and saying nice things to one another.
Aside from encouraging students to do their best everyday and to fill each other's buckets, I provide individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom and school-wide guidance lessons, and consultation services.  If you have a concern about your child's well-being in the school setting, feel free to contact me to set up a time to meet.
