Here we are in second grade!
This is my 29th year of teaching. I don't feel as old as that...
A little about me: I'm originally from Indiana. Much of my childhood was spent catching fireflies, playing in the cornfields, and reading. I was a competitive swimmer, and still often swim. I graduated from Purdue University in 1990. Then I moved to the Navajo Reservation, where I taught for five years.
I began working as a gifted resource teacher and a gifted teacher for FUSD in 1996.
In 2010, I returned to classroom teaching here at DeMiguel. I was a fourth grade teacher for a year. For one year, I was an RtI specialist, teaching reading and providing enrichment, and I have taught second grade for around 10 years. My classroom is known for its lively, open-ended, creative, project-based, individualized approach. This year, I will be teaching in our pilot year of the Elementary Prepratory Academy. At open house, I will go over this new curriculum and program with you!
I have two children, Morgen, who is a sophomore in high school at Flag High, and Kylin, who is just in seventh grade. I have a rescued dog named Sandy who still unzips backpacks and lunchboxes. We hike a lot. Our cat, Pete the Cat, will often go with us.
I look forward to working with students and parents this year! I wish you a sincere welcome!!!!!
