At Marshall Magnet School it is our goal to teach the whole child by providing each of our students in grades 3-5 with a catalog of unique extracurricular opportunities in order to broaden and enrich their academic experience. All students in grades K-2 at Marshall Magnet School receive 60 minutes of Suzuki-method violin lessons each week. Every student is provided with his or her own violin for the school year and violin rentals are also available at minimal cost. Public Suzuki violin student performances are held at various venues city-wide throughout the school year.
We are pleased to have been recognized for our efforts in this regard by several notable organizations including the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Arizona Community Foundation—Flagstaff, the Flagstaff Arts Council, and the Arizona Department of Education.
Integration of the arts and sciences into our curriculum has occurred since 2000 at Marshall Magnet School. Our teachers gather weekly in collaborative team meetings with the goal of raising student achievement. Our Site, Arts, and Science Councils, as well as our active PTO and academic parent-teacher teams all work closely together, year after year, to enhance and expand our unique programs.
