Hi, my name is Tina Hurst. I was raised in Flagstaff. I went to Christensen Elementary, East Flag Junior High, Coconino High School, and received my Bachelors and Masters from NAU. I am married and have two children. I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old and am blessed everyday by the students and staff. I have been teaching for 20+ years and have loved every moment. I love watching all students grow and succeed and enjoy learning.
I moved into a new role 7 years ago and love my job as an Instructional Specialist (IS). My job allows me to work closely with teachers, students, and the instructional staff so that we can provide the best educational experience for all students here at Killip Elementary School. My work includes collaborating with teachers weekly in Collaborative Team (CT) meetings. During this collaborative team time, teachers outline scope and sequence of curriculum, identify essential standards for instruction, and create common core assessments that are aligned with the Arizona Standards for College and Career Readiness. Student achievement data and growth on standardized assessments, AIMSweb Plus (K-2), are analyzed so that we can better align our daily Tier 2 reading intervention, after-school Cougar Club intervention, and classroom instruction to student needs.
