Information on Access, Grading, and Weekly Lessons During School Closures
All of the resources below are best accessed and submitted through your math class Google Classroom. I am posting them here in case you do not have access or prefer this format. If you do not have regular access to the internet and prefer paper assignments for anything listed below, please contact me. No student should be excluded from learning opportunities or opportunities to improve grades based on internet access.
With more information on the grading policy for this time being released by the district, we now have a plan for how to grade virtual work. Starting with Week 2 (April 13-17), students can earn grades for work. Keep in mind that nothing students do or don't do can hurt their final third quarter grade. Grades can only improve by completing the work assigned between April 13 - May 28, 2020. Additionally, students with 1's or 2's in standards assessed prior to March 13 can complete Khan Academy assignments to improve those grades. If there are Khan Academy assignments in a student's Khan Academy account with due dates in the last week of May, that means they had a 1 or 2 in those standards. Completing those assignments with 70% or better will allow me to change a student's previous grade on those standards.
Every week, a lesson will be posted to the Google Classroom. These are the steps students can follow to earn a grade for that week:
1) Use the Google Slides (or PDF) as a way to learn the new content. Practice answering the questions posed. Assess your learning on the last slide/page by thinking about your understanding of the "I Can" statements. These lessons are also posted below.
2) When you are ready, go to Khan Academy and complete the assignments due Sunday of that week. Try to earn at least a 70% on each of the assignments in Khan Academy.
3) Once you have completed the Khan Academy assignments, you will be eligible to earn a grade for this lesson by completing an online quiz. Quizzes will be posted on Wednesdays and you will have until Sunday to complete them. You cannot earn a grade for that week though unless the Khan Academy assignments have been completed prior to taking the quiz.
