Grading Policy/Scale:
Sinagua Middle School is an IB(International Baccalaureate) School and uses the correlated grading system. Students are graded upon 4 criterion in science:
- Criterion A: Knowing and Understanding
- Criterion B: Inquiring and Designing
- Criterion C: Processing and Evaluating
- Criterion D: Reflecting on the impacts of science
In each criterion students will have a grading scale of 1-8 on each INDIVIDUAL grade, NOT A,B,C etc.
- 1-2: Does not meet the standard
- 3: Approaching the standard
- 4: Meets the minimum standard
- 5-6: Meets the standards
- 7-8: Exceeds the standards
Students will receive a summative OVERALL grade for class on a scale of 1-7 with the same expectations as above. A chart is provided on the following page explaining the rubric for the overall grade. Numbers added together reference the individual grades of each criterion. (Ex:Iif a student receives a summative score of 18 in the A criterion, their overall criterion A grade will be a 4)
