Wow!!! I CAN NOT believe this is our last week of school. What a crazy year it has been. I know these last two months have been hard and please know what you are doing is ENOUGH!! Your kids will be fine, they will persevere. Read with your kids, spend time with them and reassure them that it will be ok and life will return to a new normal.

I have had to take a step back and look at all the things I am grateful for, not all that we are missing out on. I love to travel and let me tell you having to cancel all our trips this summer just about killed me, but we WILL travel again. We WILL have school again. We WILL have sports, time with friends and go to the movies. It just may take a while and that is ok.

COVID-19 is awful and has devastated many families but the silver lining is that we have been able to spend more time with our families, focus and on what is important and take a look at the environment. It is amazing to see what is happening, lions roaming the street, jellyfish in the Venice canal, Flamingos returning to Mumbai. It's incredible. Check out some major cities, like Mexico City and New York, they are considering keeping some streets open to pedestrians only to allow for more space apart. That is also incredible. So, while things in the short term are terrible, life in the long term shound be better. Hopefully, we will come out of this with a better appreciation for the things that matter and hopefully we will all be a little kinder.

I am so proud of you, kiddos...and parents. This has been hard. I never in a million years thought my last hug to my students would be on March 13th and that breaks my heart. It has been and will be hard but we are strong and we will be ok.

I hope you have an amazing summmer!!!
Love,
Mrs. Ogg

Hi Kiddos and Parents,

I can not believe this has been going on for 6 weeks. Crazy to think of all the things we have gone through and accomplished in the last 6 weeks. I know this has been tough but I am so proud of you for hanging in there and trying to make the best of this awful situation. I hope that you have had more time to connect with your families, that you are spending tons of outside, reading, practicing your math and most importantly, staying healthy. I miss you kiddos, I am so impressed by you!

Remember to check the Digital Hub for weekly lessons. Hopefully, you have been recieving mailed packets, if you requested them from me. It is not too late, if you would like a weekely packet mailed, email me at togg@fusd1.org and I will add you to the list.

There are grab and go food services still available as well.

I am emailing you all some spelling practice and a couple social studies worksheets. This is just extra. Please do not let it overwhelm you, practice if you can, if not, that is ok too!!

If you are not recieving emails from me, please email me at togg@fusd1.org.

I hope you are all well, please take care of yourselves and rember that life will return to normal but just a little different. Things WILL get better.

Mrs. Ogg

Welcome Parents and Kiddos!

I am so sad to be writing this, I would much rather be in the classroom teaching your children. I know there is a lot of uncertainty and fear in our world right now. We all feel it, we are doing our best to stay healthy and keep our kids feeling safe. FUSD has created online resources to help continue learning in these unprecedented times.

The link is http://www.fusd1.org/digitalhub

I don’t want to add to your stress or overwhelm families, so as a district and a school, we are going to slow to address learning needs and how we can best help all.

As a first grader going into second grade, your child will need to know at least 100 sight words. I use the Frye’s Lists. Each of you received a list before spring break with the words your child knows. Continue to practice those by only adding 5 more after they have mastered the previous 5.

Read with them and have them read to you, EVERY day. Kids that are read to, read.

Count with them, try to work on addition and subtraction facts to 20.

I am not sure what we are allowed to post as far as links to learning activities for students, there are copyright laws, etc. We are waiting on guidance from the district. You can google most anything though that you think will help your child. There are handwriting pages, books online, etc.

Here is the link to RazzKids https://www.raz-kids.com. Your child should still remember their user name and password. If they do not remeber it, please email.

Here is a link to the sight words. https://www.fusd1.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=24321&dataid=35952&FileName=FrySightWordListsforTestingFREEBIE1000FryWords.pdf

I will continue to reach out weekly with any news I receive, please continue to check this page, as I will update information with new resources as we are able.

Hug your children from me and tell them I miss them please!!!
