My name is Lacey Chávez. My students call me "Señora," and my soccer players call me "Coach." I'm a proud mamá of two grown daughters and two fur-babies. I'm a CHS alumna and am so excited to have been welcomed back to teach at my Alma Mater in 2016.
I've been teaching since 1997 at all levels of education, from elementary school to the University level. High school is my favorite by far. I've taught in Dual Language programs, Immersion programs, English as a Second Language programs, and now I'm proud to say that I'm a part of the Language Institute at Coconino.
I lead my department in best practices for second language learning by championing Immersion teaching and learning techniques. I have high expectations for my students to achieve their personal best in language acquisition and proficiency through authentic and daily use of the language, both inside and outside of the classroom.
I also believe that cultural appreciation and tolerance are keystones to a well-rounded community. I strive for my students to bring culture to life through active discussion and research, movies, song and dance, and cultural excursions, whether they be events in town or overseas.
I look forward to an awesome year of student engagement and involvement!
