Mrs. Alicia Abel

Welcome to a very unique start of the 2020-2021 school year, students!
For the first semester, we will be using Google Classroom to complete all assignments.  Before classes begin, you will be provided with a class code so that you can enter my Google Classroom.  At this time, I have chosen not to use Canvas for our daily work.  I may transition to Canvas for the second semester, but I wanted to start students with Google Classroom as I believe most students are already familiar with this platform.  Please make sure you have your district issued iPads charged and ready to go, as you will be responsible for interacting with the class each day.  Parents/guardians, if you would like to be added to my Google Classroom to view your student's progress, please give me your e-mail so I can send you an invitation.

At this time, the best way to contact me is through e-mail.  My e-mail address is aabel@fusd1.org.  I will be both working from home and working on campus, so I may not always have quick access to my voicemail.

Thank you,

About Me:
Hello students, parents, and guardians!
This is my 14th year as a science teacher, and my third year at Coconino High School.   I am very glad that I chose this career!  Before teaching at CHS, I taught high school science in Gilbert and Apache Junction, AZ.  I have taught a variety of subjects, such as biology, ecology, agriculture, anatomy/physiology, and integrated science.  Before that, I had many biology related jobs, such as a zookeeper, field researcher, veterinary technician, and animal care technician.
I received both my Masters degree in Education and my Bachelors degree in Biology from ASU.  I also have an Associates degree in Welding from Mesa Community College.
Outside of school, most of my time is spent with my two daughters and my husband.  When I have extra time, I like to read, watch movies, go camping, build/make things, and play computer games.  We have quite the collection of animals, including dogs, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, and cattle!
