UPDATE in light of school site closure (3-30-2020):

From this point onward, I will be conducting all learning experiences through Google Classroom.  All current students are already enrolled in my Google Classroom.  To access it, they only need to log in with their school Google account.  The easiest way for them to do this is to use their district issued iPad, as students have already been using this method for a few months and it is automatically tied to their school Google account.  As an alternative, they may also access my Google Classroom through any computer or smartphone, but they must make sure they login to their school Google account and not any personal Google accounts.  Parents/guardians, if you would like to be added to my Google Classroom to view your student's progress, please give me your e-mail so I can send you an invitation.

I will continue to update the class calendars linked below with the assignments and learning we will be doing each day.  This is a good way for parents/guardians to keep track of what is expected.

Class Calendars: Click the link for your class' calendar below to see what we will be doing.

At this time, the best way to contact me is through e-mail.  My e-mail address is aabel@fusd1.org.  I check my e-mail several times a day during the school week.  I do not have easy access to my voicemail.

Thank you,
-Alicia Abel, Biology and Environmental Science Teacher

About Me:
Hello students, parents, and guardians!
This is my 13th year as a science teacher, and my second year at Coconino High School.   I am very glad that I chose this career!  Before teaching at CHS, I taught high school science in Gilbert and Apache Junction, AZ.  I have taught a variety of subjects, such as biology, ecology, agriculture, anatomy/physiology, and integrated science.  Before that, I had many biology related jobs, such as a zookeeper, field researcher, veterinary technician, and animal care technician.
I received both my Masters degree in Education and my Bachelors degree in Biology from ASU.  I also have an Associates degree in Welding from Mesa Community College.
Outside of school, most of my time is spent with my two daughters and my husband.  When I have extra time, I like to read, watch movies, go camping, participate in a costuming charity group, build/make things, and play computer games.  We have quite the collection of animals, including dogs, goats, ducks, geese, and cattle!
