Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Alicia Abel
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year, students!
I am looking forward to a great year and I hope we all enjoy the learning experiences that are to come. I want you to feel respected, included, and safe in my classroom.
We will be using Canvas this year to complete most of the assignments for all of my classes. Please make sure you have your district issued iPads charged and ready to go, as you will be responsible for doing work in Canvas each school day. IB Biology students: we will also be using Kognity for reading assignments and some practices. Please make sure you have access to your Kognity account.
At this time, the best way to contact me is through your StudentVUE or ParentVUE Synergy mail. You may also directly e-mail me. My e-mail address is email@example.com.

-Alicia Abel, IB Biology, Biology, and Environmental Science Teacher
Hello students, parents, and guardians!
This is my 15th year as a science teacher, and my fourth year at Coconino High School. I am very glad that I chose this career! Before teaching at CHS, I taught high school science in Gilbert and Apache Junction, AZ. I have taught a variety of subjects, such as biology, ecology, agriculture, anatomy/physiology, and integrated science. Before that, I had many biology related jobs, such as a zookeeper, field researcher, veterinary technician, and animal care technician.
I received both my Masters degree in Education and my Bachelors degree in Biology from ASU. I also have an Associates degree in Welding from Mesa Community College.
Outside of school, most of my time is spent with my two daughters. When I have extra time, I like to read, watch movies, go camping, build/make things, and play computer games. We have quite the collection of animals, including dogs, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, goats, and cattle!
