Herman selected as Kinsey Principal

Following a competitive application process and a candidate interview process, which included parents, Kinsey team members, and FUSD officials, Ellen Herman has been selected to serve as the new principal of Kinsey Inquiry and Discovery School.

“We could not be happier to have Ellen serve as principal,” shared FUSD Superintendent Michael Penca.  “She has been a proven leader in every aspect of her service to the Flagstaff community and her colleagues.”

Herman is excited about the opportunity to serve Kinsey as the schools’ mission of inquiry based education and community support make for strong student outcomes.

“Kinsey really is a special place,” says Principal Herman.  “I look forward to continuing the positive trajectory of the school knowing that there is a strong team and I want to help continue to build off of those strengths.”

For the past 14 years Principal Herman has worked as a teacher, instructional coach, program specialist, and administrator - advocating for children with every opportunity. Her approach is to get to know the children on campus to learn personalities, learning styles, and interests in meaningful ways aimed at celebrating student successes and ensuring children know they have a safe place to learn.  Principal Herman She also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University.
