Good afternoon FUSD families,

Due to the construction on Fourth Street, the west crosswalk at the Fourth/Lockett/Cedar intersection will be closed to northbound pedestrians beginning tomorrow, August 21, 2023. Please see below for the routes student walkers should take to and from Mount Elden Middle School (MEMS) and Puente de Hózhó (PDH) Elementary School during this time.   

MEMS and PDH Walkers Arrival

• Coming from the west/Cedar:
  • Walk east and use the crosswalk from the Pine Forest School corner to the library corner
  • Walk north using the crosswalk to the open sidewalk on the east side of 4th street
  • Continue north on the sidewalk to the corner of Linda Vista and 4th Street
  • Walk west across 4th Street to the corner above PDH (there is a PDH crossing guard at this crosswalk)
  • Go south on the west sidewalk to PDH and MEMS
• Coming from east/Lockett
  • Walk north on the sidewalk on the east side of 4th Street to the corner of Linda Vista and 4th Street
  • Walk west across 4th Street to the corner above PDH (there is a PDH crossing guard at this crosswalk)
  • Go south on the west sidewalk to PDH and MEMS

MEMS Walkers Dismissal

• MEMS walkers will leave the building through the south doors on Cedar
  • Walking home west on Cedar 
    • Use the lighted crosswalk (there is a MEMS crossing guard at this crosswalk) to cross to the south side of Cedar, if needed
  • Walking home east on Cedar/Lockett
    • Walk west to the lighted crosswalk (there is a MEMS crossing guard at this crosswalk)
    • Use the lighted crosswalk to cross to the south side of Cedar
    • Walk east and use the crosswalk from the Pine Forest School corner to the library corner
  • Walking home north toward Linda Vista
    • Use the west sidewalk on 4th Street to walk up toward Linda Vista
    • Walk east across 4th Street from the corner above PDH to the southeast corner of Linda Vista (there is a PDH crossing guard at this crosswalk)

PDH Walkers Dismissal (they will have PDH adult supervision)

• • Walk north on the west sidewalk to the northwest corner of 4th Street and Linda Vista
  • Walk east across 4th Street to the southeast corner of Linda Vista (there is a PDH crossing guard at this crosswalk)
  • Walk south on the west side of 4th Street sidewalk to the corner of 4th and Lockett
  • Use the crosswalk to get to the library corner (with PDH adult supervision)
