Lego Robotics/STEM Studies

The Lego Robotics Club at Puente de Hozho is part of an International Organization called First Lego League which was created for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The PdH Lego Robotics Club is open to 4th and 5th-graders and runs from the end of August until mid December.

Students work together as a team, on a project, to solve different real-world problems posed to them each year by First Lego League. Students learn how to use the computer software Mindstorm to program the teams robot. They also use their creativity to design the robot and to complete the project they are working on. In December the team will participate in the First Lego League Tournament, an all day event, competing with many other teams from the Northern Arizona area.

The club will meet twice a week after school until 4:00 pm. This year (2019/20) we will be meeting on Tuesday and Thursday. We usually have two Lego Robotics teams. Each team can have up to 10 members, so we have spaces for a total of 20 members.

Interested students are asked to write a paragraph entitled  My Interests in STEM”(Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).

Students who are interested in the club can contact Mr. Oelerich (Rm. 25) to find out more details.
