    Dear Knoles Families,

I am proud to be the Principal of Knoles Elementary School. At Knoles, we celebrate Diversity, Kindness and Academic Excellence. Our amazing staff works hard to ensure the success of every student. I appreciate the opportunity to tell you about the great things we are doing this year.

We are implementing a new ELA curriculum. In K through third grade, we will be using NatGeo and in fourth and fifth grade we will use Ready Gen. We are excited to use the new curriculum to build on our students already rising AZMerit scores. We will continue to use Eureka math. We have seen great success with this program and our AZMerit scores went up at every grade level.

We will continue to have our S.T.E.P. (Students Thinking, Exploring and Playing) clubs this year. Having these enrichment activities on Friday during the school day ensures that every student can participate. The clubs change for students each quarter and some of the activities include: STEM, Sign Language, Coding, Debate, TED Talks, Photography and Many others.

We are also continuing our every Friday spirit assemblies, as part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention) program, to celebrate our students for doing the right things. We recognize students with Noble Knight tickets of our core values of Excellence, Value Everyone, Honor, Safety and Kindness. Each week a class wins the Golden Lance showing our core values behavior in every Specials class. We are adding a social/emotional component to PBIS this year. This is designed to help build community at Knoles and to promote kindness.

I look forward to partnering with our Knoles families to help support your students.

    Most Sincerely,

    Pete Galvan
