Here at Summit High School, our math teachers ensure our students learn the concepts needed to be successful in all of their math courses.
Algebra I
This class is designed for students to:
- Develop student commitment to learning innovatively with a growth mindset
- Deepen and extend understanding of solving equations and systems
- Compare and contrast the difference in behaviors between linear and non-linear relationships
- Engage in methods of analyzing, solving and using quadratic functions
- Apply linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend
Geometry
This class is designed for students to:
- Develop student commitment to learning innovatively with a growth mindset
- Establish criteria for similarity of geometric figures based on rigid motions and constructions
- Develop understanding of informal explanations of circumference, area and volume formulas
- Prove geometric theorems
- Solve problems involving right triangles
Personal FinancePersonal Finance serves as an essential foundation for students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their financial futures effectively. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including budgeting, saving, investing, credit management, and understanding loans. By learning these critical concepts, students can make informed decisions about their money and their futures.Survey Math
Juniors and Seniors take this course to finalize the concepts learned in the previous three classes. They will learn practical skills about finance as well as investigating the foundation of mathematics.
