Search Engines and Databases

  • The word "search" spelled out with SCRABBLE tiles with more blank tiles in the background

Search engines assist students in the research process by providing a place where they can find information on a variety of topics by using keywords. The resulting list of websites gives them the most current information available for their research.

Online databases are another valuable tool in the research process.  A database is a collection of information organized for quick access to selected data. You can think of a database as an electronic filing system. The information accessed is updated frequently and therefore more current than print sources.
