Dear Families,
We are thrilled to announce the opening of the nomination period for the MIT-e (Middle School Institute of Technology and Engineering) Magnet Program at Sinagua Middle School.
The MIT-e program is a rigorous, accelerated science and engineering program designed for students who demonstrate high interest and potential in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This program is built to challenge students and foster the critical thinking and innovation skills required to meet the challenges of the future.
Program Overview: A Pathway to Advanced STEM
MIT-e holds students to high academic and behavioral expectations through an enriched curriculum focused on real-world, project-based learning and the engineering design process across all three middle school years.
Key Highlights of the Accelerated Pathway:
- Accelerated Science: Students in 6th and 7th grade cover the full middle school science curriculum (6th, 7th, and 8th-grade standards).
- High School Biology Credit: By 8th grade, MIT-e students study high school Biology, providing them with the opportunity to earn high school credit before they enter high school.
- Engineering Focus: Students in all grades (6th, 7th, and 8th) engage in continuous, hands-on engineering projects, allowing them to creatively solve real-world problems.
We encourage nominations from students of all cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds, as diverse perspectives are essential to fostering true innovation.
