The Climate Action Committee
Purpose:
The Climate Action Committee was formed by the Governing Board in January 2026 to support the district in advancing the goals outlined in the FUSD Climate Action Report and in alignment with the City of Flagstaff’s Climate Neutrality Plan (CNP) to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. This committee will provide focus, continuity, and community partnerships around climate action and sustainability efforts.
The Climate Action Committee will:

Review and help prioritize goals and strategies identified in the FUSD Climate Action Report.

Provide recommendations to district leadership and the Governing Board related to policies, practices, and long-term planning that advance sustainability.

Serve as a thought partner to the Teaching and Learning, Facilities, and Transportation departments to support best practices, identify emerging needs, and align efforts across the district.

Identify and elevate areas where the district is successfully implementing sustainability practices and support greater communication and visibility of that work to the community.
Through the Climate Action Committee, the district will:

Maintain sustained attention on climate and sustainability goals.

Strengthen alignment between operational practices and district values.

Increase transparency and community engagement.

Celebrate and publicize sustainability successes across FUSD
