Dear FUSD Families and Team Members,

The Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school year academic calendars were formally adopted by the Governing Board at the January 13, 2026, regular meeting. 

The 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic calendars are now available on the FUSD website here. Please see below for highlights from the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 calendars.

These calendars are similar to the current 2025-2026 calendar.  The calendars are based on recommendations by the district’s calendar committee and input from families and staff (end the school year before Memorial Day, end semester before winter break, include Fall/Winter/Spring Breaks, and a full week for Thanksgiving Break).  The school year begins on Monday, August 10, 2026 (August 9, 2027) and ends on Thursday, May 27, 2027 (May 25, 2028).  The calendars include two (2) make-up days for weather or other school cancellations.  

• Five (5) Staff In-Service/Work Days: August 3 - 7, 2026 (August 2 - 6, 2027)

• First Day of School: Monday, August 10, 2026 (August 9, 2027)

• Labor Day Holiday (no school): September 7, 2026 (September 6, 2027)  

• End of First Quarter: October 2, 2026 (October 1, 2027)

• Parent-Teacher Conferences (early release): October 6 - 8, 2026 (October 5 - 7, 2027)

• Fall Break (no school): October 9 - 12, 2026 (October 8 - 11, 2027)

• Veterans Day (no school): November 11, 2026 (November 11, 2027)

• Thanksgiving Break (no school): November 23 - 27, 2026 (November 22 - 26, 2027)

• End of Second Quarter/Semester 1: December 18, 2026 (December 17, 2027)

• Winter Break (no school): December 21, 2026 - January 1, 2027 (December 20, 2027 - December 31, 2027)

• Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday (no school): January 18, 2027 (January 17, 2028)

• Presidents' Day Holiday (no school): February 15, 2027 (February 21, 2028)

• End of Third Quarter: March 2, 2027 (March 7, 2028)

• Parent-Teacher Conferences (early release): March 10 - 12, 2027 (March 8 - 10, 2028)

• Spring Break (no school): March 15 - 19, 2027 (March 13 - 17, 2028)

• Spring Holiday (no school): April 23, 2027 (April 21, 2028)

• Last Day of School: May 27, 2027 (May 25, 2028)

• Graduation/Teacher Work Day: May 28, 2027 (May 26, 2028)

• Make Up Days will be utilized in the following order: April 26, 2027 (April 24, 2028) and May 7, 2027 (May 5, 2028)

Early Releases

FUSD values and incorporates early releases for students into its weekly schedules to provide opportunities for staff preparation time, collaboration, and professional learning. The feedback from FUSD staff and families was overwhelmingly in support of keeping early release on Fridays. Friday early release will remain in effect for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years.
