International Baccalaureate in the Flagstaff Unified School District
-
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

IB in FUSD - a History
To offer the International Baccalaureate Programmes in the FUSD, each school undergoes a rigorous application and development process to ensure each school is adhering to the IB Programme Standards and Practices. Though these schools all initiated the process together, their journeys were unique and on their own timeline. Each school was authorized as an IB World School as follows:
- April 2020: Coconino High School
- May 2022: Puente de Hozho Elementary School
- June 2022: Sinagua Middle School
Once authorized, schools are expected to continue to develop their programmes under the IB Programme Standards and Practices model and then re-authorize every five years.
