Currently, FUSD has preschool classrooms across the district which serve students with special needs and those who are typically developing in various classrooms. We are located in most elementary schools.
The Little Ropers and Eagle's Crest programs serves infants, toddlers, and preschools and have a separate enrollment system listed on their websites.
FUSD Developmental Preschool programs are set up to serve a majority of students with special needs, focusing on readiness skills such as social-emotional skills, adaptive skills, and cognitive skills to be ready for learning at school. A few students who attend the program are typically developing and pay monthly tuition.
FUSD Inclusion Preschool programs are set up to serve a majority of students who are typically developing, focusing on readiness and academic skills to prepare students for kindergarten, while supporting a smaller number of students who have special education needs. A majority of the students who attend the program are typically developing and pay monthly tuition.
If your child is typically developing, and you are interested in a spot in either type of preschool, please add your child to the preschool waitlist.
If your child has special education needs or you are interested in a developmental screening to determine if your child has special education needs which can be served at the school, please contact our Preschool Evaluation Office at 928-773-4148.

New Preschools Opening at Thomas and Killip Elementary Schools for the 2022-2023 School Year
In an effort to expand options for families for the 2022-2023 school year, the Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) will be opening two new preschool programs. The new preschool classrooms will be located at Thomas Elementary School and Killip Elementary School. The new preschool programs will be licensed preschools with an academic and kindergarten-ready focus, are aligned with Arizona state standards and curriculum, and will have certified preschool teachers.
The preschool programs are for all students and are affordable, based on a sliding income scale. Tuition for the 2022-2023 school year is $200 per month and $100 per month if a family qualifies for a reduced price. Families who meet the Free & Reduced lunch guidelines will receive the appropriate rate information. Information relative to the Free & Reduced-priced School Meals is available here. All months of the school year will be full-month tuition, including the months of December and March. Students who qualify for special education services will not be charged tuition.
The preschools will operate on half-day sections that follow the FUSD school calendar. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday, with no school on Fridays. The morning session is from 8:40 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the afternoon session is from 12:30 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Class sizes are 14-18 students per class. Transportation will not be provided, so drop-off and pick-up arrangements need to be arranged by parents/guardians.
To register, students must turn 3 on or before August 31st and be 3 before the first day of school for the three-year-old program. Students must turn 4 on or before August 31st for the 4-year-old program. Registration is open to all students within the FUSD boundaries.
