Flagstaff Unified School District Research

  • Flagstaff Unified School District is committed to providing students high quality educational opportunities within a supportive learning community.  FUSD welcomes research that helps us provide services through our focus areas of increasing graduate readiness, improving access and equity, advancing our culture of possibility thinking, and expanding our workplace of choice.  However, all research applications will be considered.

    If you are interested in collaborating with FUSD on your research, then please review our district policies and procedures.  A FAQ is also provided.

    New Research Applications

    To apply for a research partnership with FUSD, then please complete the following steps:

    • Complete a research application.
    • Review, sign and complete all declarations.
    • Email a copy of the signed declaration documents and all other supporting documentation to mvogler@fusd1.org.  These documents should include:
      • The aforementioned declarations and agreements
      • Approved IRB forms
      • Data collection tools
      • Any communications to be made
      • CITI or other similar human subject ethics course certificates
    • You must wait for approval before beginning or contacting any FUSD official regarding your research.

    Once reviewed and approved, you will receive a confirmation email and an approval letter showing permission for your research that you may take to the FUSD schools indicated on your application.  Participation from the school, principals, teachers, and students is still voluntary.  The district approval letter in no way requires any FUSD entity to participate and may not be used for that purpose.

    Please be aware that any survey of students requires parental approval and parental review of the survey instrument at least seven days in advance of the survey being given.

    Continuing Research Applications

    If you are continuing an existing research project that appears on the list of current research below, then please follow these steps:

    • Complete a continuing research application.
    • Review, sign and complete all declarations.  (This must be done for each research renewal)
    • Email a copy of the signed declaration documents and all other supporting documentation to mvogler@fusd1.org.  These documents should include:
      • The aforementioned declarations and agreements
      • Approved IRB forms
      • Data collection tools
      • Any communications to be made
      • CITI or other similar human subject ethics course certificates
