The Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) believes that transparency is vital for all stakeholders and continues to provide updated communication and resources for families, team members, and the greater Flagstaff community regarding response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, a summary of the active COVID-19 cases by school site for the previous week and the total number of positive cases since August 17, 2020 is provided. The data below is for cases in which a COVID-19 positive case has been confirmed through contact tracing.
Individuals who test positive are excluded from participation in any in-person or on campus activities until FUSD determines that the individual meets the return criteria set by state and local health agencies.
Communications regarding positive cases, direct and indirect exposures and personal health information of staff and students fall within FERPA/HIPAA guidelines and the privacy rights of students and team members must be protected. When a positive case is reported to any FUSD school, it must be reported to the Coconino County Health Department and FUSD conducts contact tracing. Upon determining a positive case, FUSD communicates in the following manner:
- Notify every person who has been identified as a “close contact” with the positive individual. Individuals in close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual will need to be quarantined for 14 days from the last exposure date. The notification will include additional information regarding symptoms, testing information, and FUSD contact details for further questions or concerns.
- Notify all persons at the FUSD facility regarding possible in-direct contact. The notification will include information regarding symptoms, testing information and FUSD contact details for further questions or concerns.
