    Walking to the Bus Stop:

    • Parents be waiting at the bus stop 10 minutes before drop off time for younger students

    Know the Danger Zones:

    • The 10 giant step rule is a good measurement to remember the danger zone around the bus
    • When near a bus, have the driver’s attention, never play near or around a school bus, after exiting, walk directly home

    Load and Unload Safely:

    • Always be on time
    • Do not run to or from the bus
    • Wait at least 10 ft from where the bus stops, wait for the bus to completely stop before approaching
    • Your driver will tell you when to get on
    • Walk up the steps, never push or shove
      • If you drop something in the danger zone, leave it and tell the driver!

Lost & Found

  •
The Transportation Department's procedure is to have your child's driver hold onto anything found on the bus for three days before turning it over to the school. Students should first check with the school bus driver to determine if a lost item has been found on the bus and whether the driver still has the item or it has been turned it over to the school.

If your child has left something on the bus, please have them check with the driver the next time they board the bus. Radio communication with the drivers is limited to student transportation matters, i.e. transfers, lost students or emergency communications. Sorry, a missing jacket doesn't fall under "emergency communications", and we are prohibited from giving out a driver's personal phone number.
